I'm a person who is always looking for new inspiration, whether it be through music, a book, instagram, tumblr, or just out my window. People always think I'm crazy when I say cloudy days are the best days. However, I find that it makes me more calm and in a creative state of mind. Putting on my newest playlist, lighting a candle, brewing some tea and changing into my comfy clothes is how I can get in an inspired state of mind. I believe that each room has an energy, and a certain type of energy puts me in the perfect mood. All thoughts of the outside world fade away and now I can get to work.
I find that there are very few YA mysteries. The only book that comes to mind is No One Else Can Have You by Kathleen Hale. Now I can add A Trouble Is A Friend of Mine. Here a quick summary from Goodreads: The first time Philip Digby shows up on Zoe Webster’s doorstep, he’s rude and he treats her like a book he’s already read and knows the ending to. But before she knows it, Zoe’s allowed Digby—annoying, brilliant, and somehow…attractive? Digby—to drag her into a series of hilarious, dangerous, and only vaguely legal schemes all related to the kidnapping of a local teenage girl. A kidnapping that might be connected to the tragic disappearance of his little sister eight years ago. When it comes to Digby, Zoe just can’t say no. But is Digby a hero? Or is his manic quest an indication of a desperate attempt to repair his broken family and exorcize his own obsessive-compulsive tendencies? And does she really care anyway? Zoe is a relatable voice, who keeps the story as realistic as possible, while Digby adds a quirky touch to the novel. Overall the story kept me interested by sprinkling twists here and there. Some of the dialogue in the story made me laugh out loud, literally. Trouble is a Friend Of Mine is a cute read that I would recommend to anyone who likes humorous, coming of age, or quirky books.
I've always been a fan of British culture and fashion. So the fact that Dr. Martens is a style staple in US and in the UN, makes me love them even more. After saving up, I was able to buy a pair. I needed black chelsea boots, and ended up getting the black "Flora" docs. Next on my list is the 1461 Dr. Martens, AKA a pair of black chunky oxfords. Also, I love to have the dark maroon/cherry red original lace ups. Dr. Martens are a versatile shoe that seems to go with everything. http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=24970683&category=SEARCH+RESULTS http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=29938198&category=SEARCH+RESULTS http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=35820059&color=061
It's Kinda of a Funny Story, is an comedic book with a dark undertone. The book is about, an Ambitious New York City teenager Craig Gilner is determined to succeed at life - which means getting into the right high school to get into the right job. But once Craig aces his way into Manhattan's Executive Pre-Professional High School, the pressure becomes unbearable. He stops eating and sleeping until, one night, he nearly kills himself. Craig's suicidal episode gets him checked into a mental hospital, where his new neighbors include a transsexual sex addict, a girl who has scarred her own face with scissors, and the self-elected President Armelio. There, Craig is finally able to confront the sources of his anxiety. I found Craig's voice to be extremely interesting, because he was able to keep the tone semi-lighthearted in a book about his suffering from severe depression. Ned Vizzini, the author of It's Kinda of a Funny Story, himself has spent some time in a psychiatric hospital, therefore making the story more believable and realistic. Overall I give this book FOUR AND A HALF STARS out of FIVE. If you are looking for a good realistic fiction book for a quick weekend read, I would definitely suggest this. Hey guys! To make up for the technical difficulties of getting the video up, I decided to just make it a blog post first. Don't worry a short video may come out soon, along with one of my travels. But, for now here it is: Some outfits to stay Fashionable and comfy on the best time of the week.Hey guys, so recently I've moved and been redecorating the house. When I was going to some different furniture stores all of them had drabby brown and large, ugly furniture. While looking online I was able to find much better, lighter, and colorful pieces that fit my style much better. Then I realized why so many people did not have very colorful homes, many people don't know how. There aren't many stores with colorful furniture, and it is hard to work with color. So, here are some color basics. First off you want to have color combinations that work. Always have some neutral to balance it out. Here are some combinations: • Navy, Lavender, White • Light Blue, Orange, Yellow • Green, Yellow, White • Red, Blue, White • Black, White, Red • White, Blue • Olive, Black, White • Deep Purple, Black, Gold • Blue, Pink, White When using these color combinations you can sprinkle them throughout a neutral base, like this kitchen with pops of red... ...OR you could be more daring, like this home with coral chandelier, and green walls and purple couch in the living room.
I thought that I would would try something different, and share something that I feel very strongly about: Pop Music. Back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, for the most part there was only one genre of music, and that was what everyone listened to. Music was kept at least at a "PG" rating. But nowadays there are tons of music genres, and many different decades of music to listen to. Today, Pop Music's most popular listeners are those in elementary and middle school. If you have listened to some of the songs that are out there, or seen some of the music videos you know that many songs are not appropriate for kids that age. When kids go onto Youtube to look up a song the first thing that pops up is the music video. Many times that video will include, women dressed provocatively, dirty dancing, etc. I know that I wouldn't want kids watching that. Even these things have an effect on older kids. If they see their that favorite artist dresses a certain way, or dances a certain way, they might want to do that too. Although you may think that this is a very biased article, I hope it got you thinking. Below I have two completely different songs, that have the same core message, but one is the pop song and the other is not. |
